Vincy Heat battles for qualifying spot
St. Vincent and the Grenadinesâ 3:0 win in Basseterre last October 13 spoilt St. Kitts/Nevisâ chances of making it into the CONCACAF Final round. But the Vincentians have to come up trumps in the November 17 escapade in Trinidad and Tobago if they are to join the list of six teams in the CONCACAF Final Round. The task will be to upset the Soca Warriors and grab the remaining Group C spot. {{more}}
Mexico ensured their advance to the next stage with a victory over visiting Trinidad and Tobago in Puebla. The tricolores (Mexicans) is the only CONCACAF team to have won all their Semifinal Round matches to date. They hold an unblemished 4-0-0 record (12 Points) in Group C.
Guatemala and USA have also booked spots to the final round. Three other qualifiers will join them for the 9 February 12 October 2005 play off. The top three finishers in this final group will advance directly to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
The CONCACAF fourth-place finisher will compete in a home-and-away playoff against fifth-place finisher of the Asian Football Confederation, for one of the last berths into the FIFA event. These games will take place in November 2005.
