Pakistan heads for Arnos Vale
One-Day International Cricket returns to the Arnos Vale Playing Field next May 18. Thatâs when the Pakistanis come for their third visit.
That encounter will be the 16th One-Day International at that field. The West Indies have a formidable record at Arnos Vale with 14 victories. Their only loss there was to the Pakistanis in 1993. {{more}}
Since that defeat, the Windies have notched up 13 successive wins to add to the opening clash, a narrow two-run win against England in February 1981.
However, Arnos Vale was overlooked as a venue for the 2007 ICC World Cup. The arena was slated as a reserve, and when the allocations were made earlier this year, Vincentians were consoled that Arnos Vale may be used to stage warm-up matches.
The Pakistani encounter will be first of three One Dayers. The others are carded for St. Lucia on May 21 and 22.
Two test matches against the Pakistanis are scheduled for Barbados on May 26 to 30 and the other in Jamaica, June 3 to 7.
The Pakistanis arrive in the Caribbean on May 8. That will be while a South African visit will be winding down. The South Africans arrive in the region March 25. They play four tests: Guyana, March 31 to April 4; Trinidad, April 8 to 12; Barbados, April 21 to 25; and Antigua, April 29 to May 3.
Five One-Day games are slated also. Jamaica hosts the first two on May 7 and 8, Trinidad and Tobago the last two, May 14 and 15. Barbados hosts the third on May 11.
