Restructuring for football

The structure of league football will go through another change.
The new structure will see a National League competition involving 28 of the top clubs/teams here.
This league will be directed by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF).{{more}}
Twelve clubs/teams will be in the Premier Division, with 16 in the First Division.
Samba, Hope International, Greggs Fair Traders, Prospect United, System 3, Cane End, Buccament Bay Warriors, Hot Spurs, Inter Secondary Schools, Rose Place, Stingers and High Times are in Premier Division.
The First Division will see Chelsea, Rocks Dale, Parkside Rollers, Keartons, Ascoli, Cowdrey Village, Enforcers, Gabba Boys and English Spurs. Completing that Division are Texiera Road, TRAC, Police, Sion Hill Munich F.C. and BESCO Pastures.
These placings were assigned from the National Club Championships’ final standings, which ended last May.
The 12 leagues, spread across SVG, have been the bedrock of football, but will be affected as the top teams have been consumed in the new format.
First President of the SVGFF Ian Sardine sees the new structure as a “challenge”. He, however, believes, “It is the best way to go.”
Sardine disclosed that a National League should be underway by late August early September. One league that will be severely affected by the new structure will be the Sion Hill League.
Arguably one of the most popular leagues in the State, nine of that league’s ten Premier Division participants have qualified for the National League.
Sion Hill’s situation is compounded by the fact that teams/clubs in the National League are restricted to that league only.
The new structure, among other football matters, will be ventilated tomorrow from 10 a.m. at the Federation’s office (Football House), at a meeting of the General Council.
