Grammar school plays unbeaten

The St. Vincent Grammar School continues to underline their dominance in cricket at the St. Vincent Teachers Co-operative Credit Union Under-15 Cricket Competition.
For the third consecutive year, the school has played unbeaten. The only loss recorded by the Grammar School was in the final in the inaugural year, when they were beaten by the St. Martin’s Secondary.{{more}}
The hat-trick of titles came last Friday afternoon, at their home ground.
The Bishops College Kingstown, Grammar School’s opponent in the final, laboured to 117 for 8 in their complement of 35 overs.
Abdul Mohammed top-scored with 20. Afram Byam 2 for 4, and Kent Lewis 2 for 21, were Grammar School’s main wicket-takers.
Following Mikail Weekes’ 26, an unbroken third wicket stand of 64, between captain T-Shaka Patterson and Rueden Blake, steered the Grammar School to a comfortable triumph. Blake made a workmanlike 44, to be named the Player of the Final. Patterson who compiled a patient 17, also collected the prize for the top batsman in the competition.
His aggregate was150, and an average of 50, from seven innings. Patterson was not out four times.
Delvorn Johnson of the Georgetown Secondary had the Best Batting Average. He ended with 54, and recorded the competition’s highest individual score,95. The middle order batsman chalked up this score against the Carapan Secondary.
Art Jacobs, with 4.68 runs per wicket, returned the Best Bowling average. The Bethel High School student also had the most wickets in a match, 8 for 12 against Petit Bordel, with his medium pace. His 19 wicket tally earned him the award for the highest wicket taker.
Narron Andrews of the Carapan Secondary was the competition’s Best Wicket-keeper.
The Union Island Secondary, which lost to the Grammar School in the semi-finals, was adjudged the Most Disciplined team.
