Bentick is number one in OECS squash

James Bentick has now reached the number one position among squash players in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
He copped the position in Dominica when he dethroned St. Lucia’s Charlie Sonson. His compatriot, Colin Alexander, meanwhile took the fifth spot, behind Dominicans Victor Randolph and Karl Nassief, third and fourth respectively. {{more}}
Jon Osman topped the Over-50 category with Winston Findlay and Cecil Baptiste taking second and third.
In the Women’s category, Vincentian Sherian Slater surrendered the title to St. Lucia’s Lindy Alexander, while Greta Primus earned the third spot when she defeated Cheryl Renwick of St. Lucia. Vincentian Vonnie Roudette secured the fifth position.
Continuing the Vincentians’ command of the championships, Slater emerged champion among the Women in the Veteran’s segment, while Colin Alexander dominated the Men’s Veteran Category.
SVG won three of the five categories in the tournament held late last month.
St. Lucia, SVG, the British Virgin Islands and hosts Dominica participated in the tournament.
An OECS team is expected to be selected shortly to participate in the Senior Sourthern Caribbean Tournament slated for Guyana from August 16 to August 23.
