English coach lauds ability of local players

St. Vincent and the Grenadines has great athletes.
That opinion is coming from English soccer coach Kevin Hornsby, who during the last two weeks has been working on Team SVG’s physical and mental strength under his tutelage. {{more}}
Hornsby is a fitness coach who works with premiere clubs in England and has been involved in professional football for over ten years.
He spent one week here last January and returned on Sunday, May 16, for a six-week stint with Team SVG.
He acknowledges that, “What the lads need to do is work on their physical strength and their mental strength.” His emphasis is based on aerobics work that will help increase the players’ speed, agility and quickness, “so that the lads can move freely and help reduce the risk of injuries”.
Hornsby currently works with York City in England and has a good working relationship with Chelsea’s Italian fitness coach Roberto Sassi.
He has also done strength work with the Under-17 and Under-20 national footballers and has lectured them on nutrition.
