D’Affaires holds on to defence

D’Affaires, the 2003 Vinlec North Leeward Senior Cricket champion, made a successful start to this year’s tournament with a close eight run win over Mr. Cool Uprising Youths. {{more}}
That match played at the Richmond Playing Field saw D’Affaires scoring 151 all out in 21 overs with Fitzmore Edwards, 50, and Christopher Trumpet, 34, being the main batsman. Raffique Nash, 3 for 14, Ken Slack, 3 for 17 and Dyson Williams, 3 for 46, were the successful bowlers for Mr. Cool.
Mr. Cool fell for 143 off 23 overs. Patrick Glasgow, 65 not out, was the main stay of Mr. Cool’s batting, albeit in a vain cause. They were wrecked by Alex Bowen’s 5 for 17.
At Troumaca Bay, Troumaca beat Rangers of Coulls Hill by 122 runs. Troumaca scored 237 in 30 overs, led by Hayden Ferdinand, 52, and Fitzroy Hall, 50. McIan Duncan, 6 for 38, was the pick of the Rangers bowlers. He turned in a good all-round performance with a score of 27. Support came from Osmond Shallow, 21.
Leon McAllister, 3 for 38, was the main wicket taker for Troumaca. The competition continues this weekend. Somerset plays Peto Stars at Richmond in a Zone Two clash while at Troumaca Bay Ajuba takes on Smokey.
