A master craftman – Job well done
With youth belying his experience, and an unassuming personality, Craig Deys of Craig Deys Enterprise of Guyana is the toast of the Restoration Committee of the Kingstown Methodist church.{{more}}
Deys is the genius behind the restoration work at the church and while it was not his biggest job to date, it was the most intricate and technical, he said. Deys came well recommended; he has done restorative work in Guyana and on the Belmont, Bethel and Dalkieth Methodist churches in Barbados.
Deys told SEARCHLIGHT that he has been working on churches for over six years. He said that his biggest challenge while working on the Kingstown Methodist Church was taking down the roof and aligning the trusses to the main frame which takes the high beam and rafters.
The entire building was gutted and Deys said that he used Green Heart in the ceiling and Purple Heart on the floor of the balcony, as those woods are more durable than the Pine that was used in the original construction.
At press time all the major work had been completed, and Deys and his crew along with prisoners from Her Majestyâs Prison were doing finishing work to get the building ready for rededication service on Sunday.
