Despite the fact that they may be aged and there was a bit of threatening weather on Saturday, this did not deter the pensioners of the National Insurance Service from coming out in their numbers to participate in a Fun Walk in Kingstown.

As early as 8 a.m. senior citizens between the ages of 60 to 75 were all geared up and ready to walk as Earl ‘Ole’ George Daniel and some of the workers of the NIS accompanied them.{{more}}

In spite of the heavy showers that came while they were already on the streets, their spirits were not dampened.

The Fun Walk, resumed after the downpour, and included Bay Street, Victoria Park, Wilson Hill, Back Street, South River Road and then back to the NIS.

When asked how they felt about the walk there was a positive response from most of the pensioners.

“The turn out of the Senior Citizens was tremendous,” Executive Director of the NIS Reginald Thomas told Searchlight.

The Pensioners’ Fun Walk was one of the many activities that were planned to mark the company’s 20th anniversary. The Rhythmic Steel Orchestra was on hand to entertain the senior citizens as they walked.
