UNESCO officials wrap up SVG visit

Director General of UNESCO, His Excellency Koichiro Matsuura wraps up a three-day visit to St. Vincent and the Grenadines today. The Paris based Director-General is accompanied on his visit here by St. Vincent and the Grenadines Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, His Excellency Wafic Said.

While here, their excellencies paid courtesy calls on His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne, and Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.{{more}}

Yesterday morning, Matsuura, a native Japanese who is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Japanese, officially declared UNESCO’s Community Multi-Media Project in Sandy Bay open. In the afternoon, the delegation journeyed to Bequia to visit the UNESCO supported Sandwatch project at the Bequia Community High School.

Last evening, the members of the delegation were the guests of the Governor-General at a cocktail reception at Government House.

The delegation, which also includes Madame Helene-Marie Gosselin, Director, UNESCO Office for the Caribbean, Victor Sologaistoa, Chief of Section, Latin America and Caribbean Division

of Relations with Member States, Tosin Animashawun from the Office of the Director-General and Claudine de Kerdaniel, First Secretary / Attache to Ambassador Said was scheduled to leave for St. Kitts at 9:00 this morning.
