New appointments at Ministry of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture has a new Marketing Manager. Mrs. Jill McIntyre was appointed to that post effective May 17th, 2005. Mrs. McIntyre who has some seven years experience in advertising and public relations was trained by the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom. She brings a wealth of marketing experience, enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to the post of Marketing Manager which had been vacant since August 2004. {{more}} Mrs. McIntyre says her goal is to help make St. Vincent and the Grenadines the Caribbean destination of choice for global travelers. The Marketing Manager is now the head of the Marketing Unit of the Ministry and is responsible for the execution of the Ministry’s marketing and promotions efforts regionally and internationally.

Additionally, Mrs. Caroline Hinkson was appointed to the position of Information Officer at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Desk at the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados. Hinkson, a Vincentian residing in Barbados, has been added to the staff at the desk, that serves to assist persons traveling into and out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines via Barbados. Hinkson joined Ann Crichton, who is currently working at the desk. With the appointment of Hinkson, the Ministry hopes to expand the operations at the Barbados airport desk, including extended opening hours. Meanwhile, Ms. Faylene Findlay-Scrubb was appointed on promotion to the post of Tourism Planner in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture effective April 15th. Findlay-Scrubb who has been working in the Ministry for the last four years as the Communications Manager, is now responsible for the operations of the Planning and Development and Research and Statistics Unit in the Ministry. Vida Bernard, who was appointed Director of Tourism in November 2004 formerly held the post of Tourism Planner.
