New professional practice launched

V. Arrion Barnwell, former partner with accounting firm Pannell Kerr Forster, announces the establishment of her new practice, V. A. Barnwell Associates

With almost twenty years’ experience in the financial services industry, Ms. Barnwell, through her new practice, brings a new and innovative approach to professional services by expanding the traditional service offerings beyond the usual reporting approach. {{more}} In forming key partnerships with their clients, V. A. Barnwell Associates will also concentrate on leveraging information and critical analysis to foster growth and expansion and limit clients’ business risks and exposure.

V. A. Barnwell Associates’ service matrix includes:

Personal and Corporate Tax Compliance and Advisory Services

In the area of Audit and Assurance, V. A. Barnwell Associates will stand shoulder to shoulder with major international accounting firms in the application of automated audit computer-based tools. Automation of critical aspects of the audit process significantly increases efficiency and produces costs savings for our clients.

Additionally, a risk-based approach, in line with contemporary philosophies, ensures that our audits target those material areas of exposure in our clients’ operations and identifies pivotal areas of operations where improvements can be recommended to clients.

Our Financial Accounting Services will extend beyond assistance in preparation of financial statements to encompass support in the design and selection of accounting systems, technical advice and training in the use of accounting applications and training in the application and interpretation of international standards to improve our clients in-house transaction reporting.

V. A. Barnwell Associates provides tax compliance services but its Tax Planning offerings address the tax efficient structuring of transactions within legal parameters leveraging on available tax concessions and relief.

V. A. Barnwell Associates’ Practice Leader, V. Arrion Barnwell, is a graduate of the University of the West Indies and A.T. Emile Woolfe Colleges, London. She holds a B.Sc. degree in Accounting and the internationally recognized ACCA designation. Her extensive experience across several industries sectors allows a more holistic approach in providing advisory services.

Ms. Barnwell is a member of the Board of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Trust and has consulted on matters relating to national development.

V. A. Barnwell Associates’ vibrant team also includes:

Mrs. Julie Marshall-Barnwell:

Mrs. Julie Marshall-Barnwell holds a B.Sc. degree in Finance from the University of McGill, Canada. She commenced her public accounting career in 1995 and has been employed with both local and international firms.

She has also been employed in the local and offshore financial sectors. Her latest position was as the Chief Financial Officer of the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Development Bank. She is currently enrolled in the CFA (Chartered Financial Analysts) and CPA (Certified Public Accountants) programs.



Ms. Elise Prescod:

Ms. Elise Prescod is a graduate of the University of the West Indies and holds a B.Sc. degree in Management. Ms. Prescod worked in the Financial Services arena, particularly the insurance sector.

Her experience complements those of the other associates, enabling the firm to target a wide cross-section of industries. Ms. Prescod will be pursuing studies leading to the ACCA qualification.

Mrs. Susan Gonzales:

Mrs. Susan Gonzales is our in-house accountant. She was employed with CIBC, Canada for twenty-seven years. Mrs. Gonzales is a graduate of the Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology.

She served as a CUSO (Canadian non-governmental organization) volunteer for two years in the South Pacific island of Vanuatu where she was involved in providing practical assistance with the setting up of community-based projects.

V. Arrion Barnwell and the team at V. A. Barnwell Associates thank all well-wishers and colleagues in the financial services industry for their support and look forward to forming exciting relationships in this dynamic market environment.
