St. Kitts MPs at NDP meeting

Members of the Organisation of American States, OAS are not the only overseas observers of the local election process. A team from the St.Kitts opposition People’s Action Movement, PAM, visited on Friday, November 25, and left on Monday 28.

The team was made up of opposition leader, Linsley Grant, Chairman Chesley Hamilton and Member of Parliament Sean Richards. {{more}}

When Searchlight Newspaper caught up on with them at the New Democratic Party’s campaign rally at Rose Place, the trio had just arrived from the airport and was taking in the political campaign in the West Kingstown constituency.

Criticising this country’s Prime Minister, Hamilton said Dr. Ralph Gonsalves visited St.Kitts at that country’s last general elections and as a sitting Prime Minister of CARICOM, mounted the platform to actively campaign about the domestic affairs of St.Kitts and Nevis on behalf of Prime Minister Denzil Douglas.

He stressed that he was interested in knowing how Vincentians viewed that decision by Dr. Gonsalves and the actions Vincentians would take in terms of the conduct of the Prime Minister who engaged in the private affairs of other sovereign countries.

Asked of his impression of opposition leader Arnhim Eustace, Hamilton responded that the NDP’s leader was honest and upright.

He elaborated, “Eustace is almost honest to a fault, he is a man of integrity, a man who feels strongly about the economic plans and of the way forward for SVG. His policies and principles are good for the country. He knows what people should have and need in order to chart the way forward with integrity.”
