Radio Station for North Windward

By Christmas Day, the people of North Windward should have their own Community Radio Station. This announcement was made by parliamentary representative for the area, Montgomery Daniel last Saturday evening.

Daniel was addressing a meeting of his Unity Labour Party, ULP, at Sandy Bay. He recounted the difficulties residents of that part of the country have receiving the signals of the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC Radio), and said the community radio station would help in that regard.{{more}}

According to Daniel, plans are in place to link the community radio station via the internet with NBC Radio as well as radio stations in Dominica, Nicaragua and Belize so that his people can learn about projects and programs for the Garifuna people in those countries.

The representative for North Windward continued, “Our community radio station is very important to us as we continue the education revolution program. I want to make sure that by December, we should start hearing Christmas carols, and for your own participation in that radio station… we must hear what is happening on We FM, what is happening on the national radio station and we should be part and parcel of any such program in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”

The equipment, he said, has already been received and Jules Williams of WE FM has been given the contract to set the station up.
