Marketing is important for your business

Marketing is important for your business

One of the most satisfying experiences for me is when a company’s slogan or brand tagline is demonstrated in the product or service they provide. Immediately, I think of MasterCard: “There are some things money can’t buy. For everything else, there’s MasterCard.” M&M: “Melts in Your Mouth, Not in Your Hands.” Disneyland: “The happiest place on Earth.”

Right here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is an institution with a tagline “Advance Healthcare Made Personal.”

This institution is making waves at home not only because of the advance healthcare it provides in record time, but also, because of the personal touch that is injected into every experience.

Recently, I sat in the clinic at Integrated Medical Care, Arnos Vale and reminisced on the first time I walked through the door. It was about three and a half years ago, a mid-morning on a weekday. It was a new operation then. The place was emasculate, but empty. It was during a stint as a Marketing Executive and I was making a business call.

The doctor, one of the persons at the helm of the institution was a modest, easy to talk to chap with a clear vision of the service he wanted to deliver and the difference he wanted the institution to make to our health care system.
Today, many of those dreams have been realized and you’ll be lucky if you visit on a mid-morning of any day and it is not standing room only. Someone commented recently “that place has taken off eh?” What makes a business “take off?”

From where I sit… a clear vision, people with the grit to make it happen, marketing and consistent excellent customer service.
Recently, a family member and I had reasons to visit IMC six times in ten days. The advance care was welcoming, but the personal touch was what made the experience memorable. One day, as I sat waiting to be served, I realized that their tagline evokes an image of their brand. I can now make a light-hearted association with the business – When I see the tagline “Advance healthcare made personal”, I think of Integrated Medical Care.

That day, three and a half years ago, the doctor understood the importance of marketing. Today, marketing is more important, as you must advertise when business is up to keep it up.
