2020 Nine Mornings Prize giving ceremony takes place tomorrow

The 2020 Nine Mornings Prize giving ceremony will take place tomorrow January 9 from 9.30 am at the Peace Memorial Hall.

At the ceremony, prizes will be distributed to the various zonal and national winners in the VINLEC Community Lighting Competition, the Best Lit garden, Private House, Commercial Building and Nativity Scene.

At Saturday’s gathering there will also be the much anticipated announcements of the following categories: (i) Best Nine Mornings Community (ii) Best Christmas Community (iii) Best Local Christmas Song (iv) Best Health Protocol Community (v) Best 9 Mornings Face Mask Competition.

In this year’s festivities, the big winners were Point Village winning the Community Lighting Competition for a record extending eight time; Olivia Dasilva for Best Lit Private House and Top Villa Gardens for Best Lit Garden.

Addresses will come from Carlos James, minister of Culture and representatives from major sponsors the National Lotteries Authority and VINLEC along with a report from the ‘Nine Nights’.

The SVG Nine Mornings Committee was able to stage Nine Mornings activities around the country amidst the challenges of the Covid pandemic.

All persons attending this Saturday’s prize giving ceremony are asked to note that all Covid health protocols will be observed. These include: mandatory wearing of face masks, temperature checks and hand sanitization.

Nine Mornings in St Vincent and the Grenadines was this year celebrated under the theme: “Keeping the Christmas spirit alive”.
