Rubis spreads joy for the holidays

In the spirit of the Christmas season, Rubis St Vincent has distributed 35 gift baskets to shut-ins, the elderly, the disadvantaged and those who are marginalized.

Elroy Edwards, Country Representative of Rubis St Vincent said it is always a blessing to give back to the people and the communities they serve.

“This is what we have been doing for the last seven years or so, distributing food baskets to the shut-ins, elderly, the disadvantaged and those who are marginalized. This time around, we were able to distribute 35 gift baskets, more than the previous years to persons in the communities of Peniston, Vermont, Francois, Clare Valley and Murray’s Village on Monday, December 21. Sharing is Caring and that is very important to Rubis. Christmas is not about the extravagant lights and indulgent treats, but it is really about kindness and the spirit of giving especially to those who are in need. This initiative as many others we have embarked on during 2020 and this one way of showing our love and care as a company,” Edwards said.

He disclosed that the gift baskets contain non-perishable items which will help to ease the financial strain especially during the time of Covid-19.

Douche Stephens, 89, of Francois, Vermont, one of the recipients, was very thankful for the gift basket.

“Today, I praise God for life and Rubis. I feel good to get a visit from Santa and I am truly thankful. There can be no greater love than what I received this afternoon from Rubis,” she exclaimed.

Paul Stephens, who lives alone and is unable to provide for himself was surprised by the visit from Rubis. “This food basket is such a God send, as life has been very hard for me and this will go a very long way. Thank you Rubis!”
Miss Haywood, who cares for a disabled child and whose husband is currently unemployed said she was happy to receive the gift basket.

“I am so happy to receive this token of love in the midst of all my difficulties. Rubis, thank you for putting a smile on our faces this Christmas.”

Earlier this year, in June and August, Rubis St Vincent provided much needed support to the Ministry of Education with its online learning efforts and the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Environment by making a generous donation of laptops, tablets and Internet connections and surgical masks and gloves respectively.
