Rotary Club St Vincent hosts its annual Christmas party
Saturday December 12 was a very special day for over 100 Vincentian children.
The lucky pre-schoolers were honoured guests of Governor General Dame Susan Dougan and the members of the St Vincent Children‘s Welfare Fund Committee, who have partnered with the Rotary Club of St Vincent for over 25 years.
Drawn from 20 pre-shools on the windward side of St Vincent this year, the excited children heard welcome remarks from Her Excellency, followed by current President of the Rotary Club of St Vincent, Annette Mark, who spoke of the continued pleasure which this Annual Project brings.
Much food and cakes were enjoyed by the children who were entertained in fine style by the top class musicians of the Royal SVG Police Force Band. This year’s venue was the Colonaire Learning Resource Centre, complete with playground, where the children were able to play and enjoy delicious snowcones. Of course, Santa Claus arrived right on time, fully loaded with all the toys the children could wish for, and they journeyed safely home clutching their toys and party bag snacks and juices.
A large number of Rotarians were on hand to help throughout the party, plus members of the Children’s Welfare Fund Committee, and local Girl Guides and others – an excellent team effort by all.
The Rotary Club of St Vincent has been serving SVG since 1971, and will celebrate its 50th Anniversary on August 5th, 2021. The Club is looking forward to the NEXT 50 years of “Service above Self”!
