A new case of COVID-19 was confirmed today, November 19; the sixth case to be recorded this week in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Health Services Subcommittee release has identified the new case as a returning national who arrived with a negative RT-PCR test result from Canada on Thursday, November 12 on Air Canada, AC980.

The returning national also tested negative on entry screening and on day five testing but repeat testing on day seven, which was done due to assessed increased individual risk, was positive.

The release said that the adult was in mandatory quarantine and will be isolated until cleared by two negative tests.

Five cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Tuesday; four of which were returning nationals from Canada, who also travelled to SVG on Air Canada flight, AC980.

Two of the nationals tested positive on preliminary entry screening for COVID19 and were transferred from their quarantine sites to approved isolation.

Repeat testing according to the existing multitiered system confirmed that these persons were positive.

The other two nationals who arrived on November 12 with negative RTPCR results tested negative on entry screening but later tested positive on Day 5 testing, carried out on November 16.

Repeat testing done today, November 17 confirmed that these persons were positive. Both were in mandatory quarantine and will be isolated until cleared by two negative tests.

The fifth case recorded on Tuesday was a non-national who traveled from the USA via Barbados on Saturday, November 14 with a negative RT-PCR result.

The adult was found to be positive on entry screening as well as in subsequent repeat testing and will remain in isolation until cleared by two negative tests.

SVG has now recorded a total of 84 COVID-19 cases, 78 of which have recovered. There are now six active cases, all of which have been imported from countries categorised as “high risk”.
