Five to vie for Miss Independence SVG pageant crown

The Miss Independence SVG pageant will be held on Independence Day, October 27 at the Glen Hard Court.
The event, which is sponsored by National Properties Ltd, SOV, French Verandah, Millionaire Cosmetics, Sami Plantain chips and Andre Convenience begins at 8 pm. Admission is $20.

Born on August 2, 2002, Donniesa Yearwood was raised in the villages of Greiggs and Calder. She is the oldest girl of five children. She is a recent graduate of the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua and aspires to be a lawyer.

Donniesa enjoys singing, listening to music, watching television and socializing. She is funny, adventurous, selfless and free spirited.

Her interest in pageantry stems from her drive to become more self confident as she battled with low self esteem from being bullied while growing up. Donniesa lives by the philosophy that ‘broken crayons still colour’ and she is determined to uplift herself through her affiliation with this pageant. Doniesa Yearwood is being chaperoned by Gianna Gumbs

Sixteen-year-old Athalia Gloster lives with her father as her mother died when she was a small child. She is a recent graduate of the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua and hopes to pursue studies in business to become a Training and Development Manager and also to do business analysis.

Athalia loves to read, do research and create new ideas as she is interested in entrepreneurship, hoping one day to start a business. Athalia describes herself as loving, brave and strong and she is very certain that she would become successful as she loves to be challenged. She believes that anyone can make it, but nothing comes without hard work.

Atalia is being chaperoned by Jolene Bentick

Trevisha Cadougan, Miss Fort Duvernette hails from the community of Glen where she resides with her family.

The 19-year-old, who graduated from the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua (SJCM) in 2017 is optimistic and very humble.

After leaving the SJCM, she pursued her tertiary education at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community college (SVGCC).

Trevisha hopes to become a midwife as she admires the birth and life of humanity. She enjoys modeling and is considered a sports fanatic as she herself participates in numerous sporting activities.

Trevisha hopes that this pageant journey assists with building her self confidence to prepare her for life. She is being chaperoned by Limiske J. Berkley.

Deanna Fairbairn is a very confident and intelligent young lady who was raised and nurtured in the vibrant community of Lowmans Hill.

She attended the Bishop’s College Kingstown where she received the award for the top student of the year. She also passed all 10 subjects she wrote at the CSEC examination. She is now a second year student at the Technical and Vocational Division of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

Deanna works well with others and in the near future, she sees herself having multiple careers such as: bank accountant, actress, an entrepreneur, a singer and a model. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, singing, dancing and taking pictures. This young lady lives by the motto: “The race is not for the swift but he who endures until the end”. She will appear as Ms Montreal Gardens and is chaperoned by Lanique Findlay.

Avolon Morgan, Miss Dark View Falls is an ambitious, hardworking and optimistic young lady. She is the first of four children born to Marvo and Phillon Morgan and was raised in Diamond Estate. Avolon has many talents that she uses to make her contribution to society and to guide her in her future endeavors. She is being chaperoned by Antoria Cumberbatch.
