CDC congratulates three steel orchestras on their Youth Steelpan Summer Programs

The Carnival Development Corporation has extended congratulations to three Steel Orchestras for successfully completing their Youth Steelpan Summer Programs.

The Starlift Steel Orchestra held its graduation ceremony on Saturday, August 29 at their Pan yard in Block 2000, Old Montrose. Addresses were delivered by the Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture – Cecil Mc Kie; Area Representative – St Clair Leacock; Former Minister of Culture – René Baptiste; and Youlou Pan Movement’s Vice President – Isheka De Riggs. The featured address was delivered by Crystal Jacobs. At the end of the ceremony, 24 juniors received their certificates.

On Sunday, August 30, the Sion Hill Euphonium and the Epic Steel Orchestra held their graduation ceremonies.

The Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra held their graduation ceremony at the Sion Hill Hard Court beginning at 4:00 pm. Addresses were given by Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture – Cecil Mc Kie; Area Representative – Arnhim Eustace and the ULP Candidate for East Kingstown – Luke Browne. Thirty-six juniors completed this program and were awarded with certificates at the ceremony.

Epic Steel Orchestra held their graduation ceremony at the Calliaqua Town Hall beginning at 3:00 pm. Addresses were made by Area Representative – Camillo Gonsalves and President of the Youlou Pan Movement – Rodney Small. A total of 44 students graduated from this event.

“The CDC warmly welcomes the newly graduates who would now join the other junior members of their respective bands. We would also like to encourage each Steelband to continue to recruit and train these youths,” a release from the CDC said.
