Farmers to get 50 percent discount on price of fertilizer

The Covid-19 Stimulus package for farmers has provided a 50 per cent discount on the price of fertilizers.

However, the centralized selling and delivery of discounted fertilizers at the Agricultural Input Warehouse has resulted in mass gatherings.

Because of this, beginning yesterday, August 24,the following guidelines will apply:

1. All fertilizers will be sold at a 50% discounted price. Previously, only NPK fertilizer was discounted;

2. A farmer will be permitted to purchase a maximum of 20 sacks;

3. To avoid a large gathering at the time of purchasing, farmers can now make their payment to the Agricultural Input Warehouse prior to the arrival of the shipment of fertilizers; and

4. The Ministry of Agriculture will deliver the fertilizers to farmers at ten collection points at zero cost to the farmer.

Farmers are advised not to purchase fertilizers from anyone engaged in the reselling at inflated prices. The next shipment of fertilizers is due to arrive in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on August 30, 2020.
