Taiwan NGO sets up Global Disaster Relief Alliance in response to request from SVG

On May 4, in response to a request by The Embassy of St Vincent and the Grenadines to the Republic of China/Taiwan for assistance with Disaster Risk Reduction in SVG, a Global Disaster Relief Alliance was launched at Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan (Parliament).

“This launch was spearheaded by ‘Happy Homes World Alliance International’ (HHWAI), a non-governmental organization with which our Embassy is aligned in an advisory capacity,” a release from the Embassy of SVG to Taiwan said.

At this meeting at the Yuan, HHWAI also inaugurated its Global 5 4 New Life Movement “to enhance global health, peace, prosperity and unity.”

Addressing Monday’s launch were the Mayor of Yilan; Deputy Director- General of The National Fire Agency in The Ministry of The Interior; Section Chief in the aforementioned Ministry; Chairman of HHWAI and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. In an initial tangible enactment of this alliance, Ambassador Bowman was presented with a Medical Chest and solar powered Camp Lanterns donated by a neighbourhood pharmacy, which the Ambassador later visited in order to extend her gratitude.

This alliance will address specific areas of focus under the National Disaster Plan, Community Resilience and Capacity Building thrusts of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) of SVG.
