Police investigating two robberies in two different locations
Police are investigating a robbery, and an attempted robbery, that took place over the weekend in two different constituencies.
On Friday February 7, around 8 p.m., a St. Vincent Grammar School (SVGS) student, was exiting the Victoria Park onto the main road at the gate closest to the Kingstown Evangelical Church, when a gunman in a hoodie, pointed a gun at his chest and demanded his phone.
The student, who had just left the Intermediate High School’s (IHS) annual sports meet, complied, and the robber made good his escape through some nearby bushes.
The other incident took place on Sunday morning, around 3. Three young ladies reported to police, that they exited the Envy Night Club in Arnos Vale and proceeded to a makeshift parking lot, located on the opposite side of the road.
Reports are, that two of the partygoers got into the vehicle, and, as the third was about to enter the vehicle, she was accosted by a gunman whose face was obscured by a white vest. The young lady is said to have ran around to the driver’s side of the vehicle and jumped into the driver’s lap.
The driver then sped off, struck a parked vehicle, and escaped back to the nearby club where police officers there were informed of the alleged robbery.
A phone was said to have been retrieved from the parking lot. The matter was reported to the police at the Calliaqua station and investigations are taking place.
