NIS executive director appointed as vice-chair of ISSA

STEWART HAYNES, the Executive Director of the National Insurance Services (NIS) has been appointed Vice-Chairperson to the Technical Commission (TC) on Investment of Social Security Funds of the Bureau of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

This appointment comes just after 18 months of serving on the Bureau of ISSA representing the Americas region including the Caribbean social security systems.

“This is a remarkable and significant achievement. The Vice-Chairperson plays an important role in planning and guiding the activities of the TC by ensuring its focus on priority issues and by contributing to the ISSA’s overall programme and objectives,” a release from the NIS said.

Additionally, the Vice-Chairperson is expected to provide technical input and practical support to the TC’s projects. The TCs report directly to The ISSA General Secretariat who provides technical support for the planning and coordination of its work. The TC will meet with the other Commissions of the ISSA in Geneva, Switzerland in June 2020 and will meet on an annual basis during the triennium 2020-2022.

The Board, Management and Staff of the NIS in the release congratulated Haynes on his appointment.

“We are confident that with Mr Haynes’ rounded experience and qualifications as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) that he will represent the TC, and by extension the Caribbean Social Security institutions well,” the release said.
