Japan Grant Assistance accepting applications for Grassroots  Human Security projects

The Embassy of Japan in Port of Spain, Trinidad, is in the process of accepting applications for the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) for the Japanese fiscal year 2020 (April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021) for St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The areas to be covered, but not limited to, are:

(1) poverty alleviation;
(2) public welfare;
(3) the environment (including climate change mitigation and adaptation) and disaster risk management;
(4) primary health care; and (5) education.

The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance scheme for development projects designed to meet the diverse needs of developing countries such as St Vincent and the Grenadines. The project known as Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) or KUSANONE supports projects proposed by local non-profit organizations including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), schools, hospitals and local government authorities aimed to benefit community at the grassroots level.

The St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School was last year’s beneficiary of the GGP project in SVG.

A ceiling of 10,000,000 Japanese Yen (approximately US$90,900.00) is set for one project for the fiscal year 2020.
