Directors of St Vincent Co-operative Bank Ltd benefit from 3-day training course

With the increased emphasis on Corporate Governance by Supervisors and Regulators, directors of the St Vincent Co-operative Bank Limited recently participated in a three-day training course on corporate governance.  

The training course was facilitated by Dr Chris Bart and Ms Lisa Charles of the Caribbean Governance Training Institute. 

Dr Bart opined that there is a dire need to raise the standards of governance and practices of organisations throughout the Caribbean. 

The Institute has trained the Executives of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Cabinet of the Government of St Lucia and over 900 directors in the region.  

The course ran from Monday November 25 to Wednesday November 27 and covered a range of topics including the Principles of Governance; Roles, Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Culture; The Essentials of Financial Oversight; Developing Strategic Thinking vs Strategic Planning; Risk Management and Good Boards need Good Directors.  

The participants were  Samuel Goodluck, Marcus Ballantyne, Zhinga Horne-Edwards, Maxim James, Suzanne Joachim, Heather Sardine, Matthew Ferrari, Julie Lewis and Albert Porter, who all sat and passed the qualifying examination. They have earned the right to use the internationally recognized designation “Chartered Director” (C.Dir).
