Six Finalists chosen for Lions Club South Public Speaking Competition 

Six finalists have been selected to represent their respective schools in the 2019 Lions Club South / Flow sponsored National Secondary Schools’ Public Speaking competition.

The students were selected from 17 students who participated in the preliminary round of the competition from October 1 to 4.

The finals will be held at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday, October 23 from 7 pm.

The finalists are: Rishona James – St Vincent Girls High School; Eldonte Samuel – Bishop’s College Kingstown; Danielson Ferguson – St Vincent Grammar School; Sharyan Bowman – Mountain View SDA Academy; Vickron Alexander – Union Island Secondary School; and Stephen Lavia – Intermediate High School.

The finalists will discuss the topic: “Should individuals who claim to be LGBTQ be afforded all human rights prescribed under international law”?

The winners will receive the Lion Michael De Freitas Challenge trophy among other prizes and scholarships from the sponsor.

The finalists are required to meet on Tuesday, October 8 for an official briefing.
