NDP congratulates new Governor General

The New Democratic Party (NDP) has extended congratulations to Governor General Susan Dougan.

“Her Excellency Susan Dougan has essentially been in the public service for most of her working life; an experience which we consider will hold well in her continuing service to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We hope that her appointment will serve as an inspiration to Vincentians of all ages and backgrounds. We look forward to her leadership as St Vincent and the Grenadines moves to its 40th Anniversary of Independence,” a release from the NDP said.

In commenting on the appointment of Dougan, President of the NDP, Dr Godwin Friday said in part, “I congratulate Her Excellency Susan Dougan on her appointment. She makes history as SVG’s first female Governor General. We expect nothing but the highest standard of service to our nation and trust that she will use her high office to bring attention to many issues confronting our
nation.”

“I also thank Sir Frederick Ballantyne for his many years of distinguished service to our country and people,” the opposition leader said.
