Masked gunmen shoot eight at Diamond

Eight persons were shot Saturday night at Diamond, in the largest mass shooting in Vincentian history.

Reports are that around 9 pm, a crowd that had gathered at a shop in the area scattered when at least three masked gunmen opened fire, allegedly in an attempt to kill one of the shop’s patrons.

The men missed their target, but wounded Diamond residents – Fitzroy Ash, 59; Kerwin John, 52; Karim Benjamin, 25; Kaymanie Richards, 39; Andrew Layne, 37; Kenneth Barzie, 30 and Gregory Abraham, 30. Michael Richards, 18 was also hit during the melee.

Two other persons were injured while running away from the scene, but were not shot.

Police later recovered over 40 spent shells at the scene.

The eight gunshot victims are currently warded at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and all are expected to survive the attack.

A police source told SEARCHLIGHT that the intended target was Richard “Shrek” McFee who escaped unhurt.

Mcfee shot to notoriety in 2016 after he and Martin “Jah-son” James were charged in relation to an incident that took place at the Fair Hall Housing Scheme on October 7, 2016 in which 10-month-old baby Mozarie Lee his parents Mozart Lee and Shelly-Ann Durham were shot.

Mozarie died, but his parents survived. McFee and James were freed after a no case submission was upheld last April. McFee was however sent to prison for 15 months for possession of 30 rounds of .380 ammunition. He was recently released.
