Business Startup Seminar scheduled for May 16

Persons in the beginning stages of starting a business, or who are considering self-employment, will have the opportunity to attend a Business Start-up Seminar on May 16. The workshop is being offered by the Centre for Enterprise Development Inc., and is being held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The seminar, entitled “Getting Ready to Start a Business”, will be facilitated by former CED Director and lecturer at the Sir Arthur Lok Jack School of Business in Trinidad, Dr. Julian Ferdinand. He will help aspiring entrepreneurs to understand the first steps to start a business and assess their abilities to lead and manage a business.

The seminar is designed to enable participants to recognize the need for ongoing planning in starting and running a successful business, and provide participants with the tools to develop an action plan to take their idea to the next stage.

The sessions will encourage the participants to look at why they are thinking of starting a business and create a business idea and examine whether there is a market for their business/idea. In addition the seminar will cover topics such as Getting the Finances Right, Can you keep the books/manage the money, The Business Plan: Why do you need one, What support do you need and where can you find support, and Why will you fail/succeed.
