Surviving amidst the challenging times

EDITOR: It is without doubt that we are facing challenging times. Surviving amidst the challenges is what is required.

Obviously, the Covid-19 will be with us for some time, dengue also forms part of the challenge. This too will be here with us for some time. While, we try to deal with the two aforementioned, we are now faced with possibility of an explosive eruption of the La Soufriere volcano.

Surviving these challenges is hard, but possible. It is not time to play politics and ascribe blame. If we have to survive, we as a people ought to unite in our effort to ensure that protocols are followed, that keeping a tidy environment and most importantly that we turn our eyes heavenward. It is time for a spiritual healing.

Surviving would require adjustments in many things. We recognize that there would be financial problems, thus an adjustment in our lifestyle and spending is of necessity. The future is in God’s hands. None of us know how long and how devastating the aforementioned will be. Thus, it is for us to adjust our minds as to what is needed in surviving these challenging times.

While we recognize that it will be hard, we must take on board the words of the national anthem, “whatever the future brings our faith will see us through”. In these times it takes faith for surviving. It is not faith in men, but faith in God. Let it be known that for us to effectively survive it must be the Lord. Thus, I call upon us to look to Him, as Psalms 121 encourages us to look to the hills from whence cometh our help.

Yes, we will survive with the help of the Lord and we will rise above these challenges. It is time to serve the Lord and put Him in our homes, our lives and by extension our nation. Let us be positive and have the Lord as our captain, so that we can effectively survive these many challenges facing our nation. God bless SVG.
