Keeping Yahweh’s Annual Holy Days

EDITOR: Do you know that you can actually read the entire Bible and receive the very same message from both Old and New Testament? The entire Bible throughout, from Genesis to Revelation, brings forth only one message on any given subject. In fact, the Bible interprets itself.

During the past millennia, the religion which is described in the Bible has been subjected to merciless treatment by the critical interpreters and commentators. Even today, the fundamental message and harmonized doctrines are practically unrecognizable as the Faith established by the Messiah.

We found in Matthew 4:4 “…Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh.” This is a direct quote from Deuteronomy 8: 3.

In Leviticus 23, Yahweh gave a set of Holy Days which Israel was to follow. These Days were further observed by the Messiah, the Apostles and by all means are applicable for us today. These holy days, which are commanded in the inspired Scriptures, do not comprise the severe burdens with which organized religion has for so long depicted them. These Holy days are also called Feast Days.

The Sabbath is the first Holy Day established in Leviticus 23. Verses 2 and 3 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, The set feasts of Yahweh, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my set feasts. Six days shall work be done: but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation: you shall do no manner of work: it is a sabbath to Yahweh in all your dwellings.”

Firstly, the word “Sabbath” (Spanish – sábado) comes from the Hebrew word “Shabbath” (Noun), which derived from the root word “Shàvoth”, meaning “to repose; to desist from exertion” ( Strong Concordance, No. 7676). The word Sabbath, found in the Biblical text, means “to rest, or have an intermission.”The Sabbath, still today, constitutes a commanded observance, because it points prophetically to fulfillments that are still future. Hebrews 4:9 informs us “There remains therefore a sabbath rest for the people of Yahweh.”

We must never lose sight of the fact that Almighty Yahweh has specified a certain day on which the True Worshippers shall rest each week. The weekly Sabbath heads the list of the holy days of Yahweh. It is a holy convocation or sacred gathering together, with brethren of like precious Faith to worship Almighty Yahweh and to study His Word.

Do you not think that it is much more necessary to worship the Almighty Heavenly Father on the specific day that He recognizes, sanctifies, and sets apart for this purpose, rather than to place man made interpretations on the Scriptures? We have to admit that keeping Sunday as a holy day was never instructed by the Creator. It is not a commandment. We are reminded in Acts 5:29 to Obey Yahweh rather than man.

Yahshua and the Apostles kept the Feast Days (Sabbaths), not because they were Jewish, but because the Sabbaths were commanded by Yahweh. We will continue to look at the Annual Holy Days in another article, Yahweh’s will.
