The future of this country depends on us as a people

Editor: In Luke 13: 3 it states, “I tell you, No, for except you repent you shall all likewise perish.” The Lord is speaking to us as a people and He is asking us to repent or we shall perish. The latest volcanic activities in Kick ’em Jenny and the many crimes and earthquakes are but a wake-up call for us.{{more}}

Sadly, but true, we as a people, have turned away from God. We have given politics more importance than God. We have harboured hatred, disrespect and unforgiveness, just to name a few, all because of politics. We no longer love as we used to. If someone does not share the same political ideas as us, we would brand them as not Christians despite the christlikenes that may be demonstrated in such a person.

We have allowed politics to divide us to the point that we hate people because of their political views. We have become disrespectful and so unforgiving in our daily lives for various reasons.

We no longer look out for each other, but instead have become selfish and materialist. Many have turned away from the order God has set up when it comes to relationships and have gone in homosexuality, when clearly the Bible condemns it. This subject I will write on another time in more detail.

We have turned Sunday into a day of partying and pleasuring, rather than a day of worship. We fight and destroy each other with our tongues and fists and also the guns. So tell me is not God who demanded righteousness angry with this nation.

In Psalm 9:17 we are told that the “wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God.” Truly, it is safe to say that we have become a wicked nation due to our loose and aforementioned activities.

I, therefore call on us Vincentians to do as 2 Chronicles 7: 14 tells us to do, “if my people that are called by name shall humble themselves, seek my face and turned from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land.” The future of this country depends on us as a people. We have to turn to God from idols to serve the true and living God and then we can truly experience a great revival and blessings. It is not too late. Let us not look to politicians to save this nation, but to all of us as a people by turning to God. GOD BLESSES SVG.
