Spare a thought for the Cruickshank family

Fri, Dec 12, 2014

Editor: Death continues to raise its ugly head so frequently in this country. The tragic and fatal deaths are indeed becoming alarming in this blessed land of ours, called SVG. It is but a reminder that, “it is appointed unto men once to die…” Hebrews 9:27. Thus it serves us well to be prepared for when our time comes.{{more}}

The tragic death of Mr. Edgar Cruickshank is another reminder of the frailty of men and shows the importance of being prepared. It is a sad occasion for the family. This is not the time to play politics with such a tragic death. I know we as Vincentians love to talk without knowledge. We love to make judgments long before the facts are known. It is our mentality.

I would encourage us to pray for the family and offer support as much as we can. Let us not use this tragedy to gain political mileage by any party. Let us not play the blaming game and be judgmental. Let us wait until the facts are known before we can make a judgment.

I am appealing to both parties to consider the feelings of the wife and children and grandchildren and leave the politics out of it. God sees and knows and He will in His own time make known to us the truth.

There are many unanswered questions and so to speculate and put a political spin on it can prove to be wrong. It is time for us to heal as a nation and work together. For after all, a life was lost through tragic circumstances. We can only add more hurt when we use this tragedy for political mileage.

For sure the family and relatives are in my prayer. I beg of us to be mature and give comfort and sympathy to this grieving family. Also let us give support to the grieving wife and children. For it will not be an easy situation to overcome quickly. The pain will take a long time to go away and who knows it may be a lifetime.

May God bless the family of the late Edgar Cruickshank.
