Trade unionist or politician – Who are you?

Fri Dec 05, 2014

Editor: The Bible says that we cannot serve two masters at the same time; we either love the one and hate the other or we cling to the one and despise the other. We are called to be loyal and honest in everything we do. We are imperfect beings so we will make mistakes from time to time, but once we commit ourselves we must remain faithful and true.{{more}} This article is directed to leaders who have been trusted by the workers of this country for years with their future by contributing on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly to their organization/trade union to represent and defend them. The hard working people of this nation want to know that when they are treated unfairly on the job, they can have redress for their situation, but for the past couple of years they have been betrayed by the persons who should defend their cause. What I have noticed is that the cause of the working poor is not being championed anymore. Instead, the leaders of these organizations are defending the powers that be.

Shame on you! I wonder how you sleep at night. From time to time people meet me on the street and complain to me about what they are going through and they are wondering why they are paying their hard earned money and not being looked after. So my question is, and not mine only, is: are you a trade unionist or a politician? It is time that you decide whether or not you still have the nation’s workers at heart or you just do not concern about the concerns of the poor. Remember the objective of your organization is to make the life of the workers and their families better, but from the way it looks these days it seems like your loyalty is to other causes. The workers who are members of your organization/trade union work hard for their money and in some cases they are underpaid.

Presently I do not think that you would be able to represent them properly because your hands are tied. I have been a member of one such organization in an executive position and have seen some injustice, but these days it has become worse. For the sake of all of us we just want to know who you are and your present position where the workers of this country are concerned. Remember, only a foolish dog barks at a flying bird.
