Editor: We hear from time to time “your attitude will determine your altitude.” In other words, the way in which you carry yourself and your behaviour pattern will determine how far you reach in life. Sad to say, in this 21st century we have a lot of bosses in different organizations who lack professional attributes. Sometimes we wonder why some workers behave in such an unprofessional manner, but this stems from the way in which their bosses relate to them.{{more}} It is like monkey see, monkey do. It is very sad to see that this kind of behaviour still exists in these modern times. I know that all of us go through rough times in life, but we have to learn to separate our personal life from our work life. To make it worse, it is usually so visible that everyone can see.

Sometimes it seems that the hat we are wearing is too big for our head, or we think that we have reached a stage in life where we know it all and nobody can tell us what to do. This is dangerous, as we all have to work together so that the organization can be successful. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Even the janitor plays an important role, so everyone should be treated with respect. We can only get what we give. Sad to say, some of us don’t have it, so we can’t give it. I hope that this article would help us to do some introspection into our lives and try to improve for the betterment of the organization that we head and for the country as a whole.

Let me leave a few words of wisdom from the book of Proverbs. Chapter 1, verses 3-5: “To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment and equity; to give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear and will increase learning, and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.”
