It’s time to end turtle hunting in SVG!

Editor: As a Vincentian who travels abroad, I am deeply concerned that SVG is falling behind its sister islands in developing its tourism industry and protecting its endangered species.{{more}}
Numerous islands across the Caribbean region have decided to ban turtle hunting and have shifted to turtle tourism! The islands which have shifted to turtle tourism are now reaping the economic and social benefits which come along with turtle tourism.
According to a WWF study, in 2012 turtle tourism generated 150 times more economic output than turtle hunting!
I urge the Minister of Fisheries and both political parties to support SVGâs developing tourism industry and put a permanent ban on turtle hunting in SVG!
