We have declined morally

Thur April 17, 2014

Editor: Easter is about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, sadly, we have declined in many ways and as a result Easter and the Lord Jesus Christ have very little importance to us as a people.{{more}}

The rise in crime in not only in SVG, but the world over, is an indication of the hardiness of man’s heart. There are many who are bent on committing crimes no matter what and have little or nothing to do with Christ and Christianity.

In a closer analysis, it would be shown that crimes in many cases are related to poor family relationships. Far too often the boys are neglected, while the girls are given the attention. Even in society, we are often told that girls or women are marginalized. As a result, much emphasis is placed on empowering women, but little emphasis and programmes are geared towards the men. This can contribute to boys or the males committing crimes, since they are not given any guidance and attention.

We have declined morally. You don’t have to look far to see the way how ladies are dressed in such a sexually revealing way. We have placed more emphasis on money and sex than on character. No wonder we have so much prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases. This shows the lack of decency and also the neglect of Christ and his power to help.

I would wish that not only because it is Easter time, but for our own eternal good and development to put Christ in our lives and homes. It is time for us as a people to return to God and put Him back into our homes and lives. For if we forget God, Satan would rule. If we forget God, then our nation would continue to experience the rise in crimes.
