Is politics breaking some educated citizens in S.V.G?

EDITOR: Not too long ago I was watching a very interesting programme on IKTV hosted by Mr Toney Regisford, a very brilliant Vincentian. On the panel was Mr Linton Lewis, president of the SVG Bar Association and the DPP Colin Williams.{{more}}
Throughout the entire discussion, I was rather at a loss as to which one is the holder of a doctorate in law. What I did observe is that the DPP Colin Williams did not take anything for granted, because he had with him some of his law books, while Mr Lewis just walked with a pen and a scrap of paper, giving the impression that he was not fully prepared for such an interview. The DPP was very clean and precise in all his deliberations. At one time in the second segment Mr Lewis was at a loss as to what was happening.
I personally believe that in a legal argument the word “butâ should not be used that often. I think Mr Jomo Thomas would have scored more marks in that interview. I must, however,say that I admire Mr Linton Lewis, who has climbed the educational ladder from zero. He must be praised for his achievement. The warning, however, I have for all learned persons in SVG is don’t allow politics to strip you all of the status you already attained in this life. For instance, a well learned man holding a Master’s degree in Engineering said at a political meeting, “They forgot I pelt a lot of rocksâ. Are these words really being used by a man with a Master’s degree in Engineering? This is a man who had influenced many intelligent persons in West Kingstown to vote for him.
Listen, my dear friends, if you happen to be an educated man or woman reaching the highest level, don’t let politics cloud your brain, making you forget all that you have attained in the various schools of learning. Remember politics can either make you or break you.
