The outcome of Calypso finals is quite puzzling

Editor: Since Sunday night last week, I have been trying to figure out how a calypsonian whose song was not considered good enough to get him into the finals, but came in as a replacement for one who had dropped out, could find himself winning the crown?{{more}}

It is, of course, theoretically possible, but the chance of it happening is quite remote. At least I thought so until Sunday night. It means either that he did a complete redo of his song(s) or the judges are a bunch of jokers. I am not sure which played itself out.
