Fri May 17, 2013

Editor: The St Vincent Girls’ High School (GHS) celebrated its 102nd anniversary on May 8, 2013. Congratulations, thanks and best wishes to the school and everyone associated with it. Many of us who were fortunate enough to attend this auspicious institution are grateful for the education that we received there.{{more}}

I recall Ms Jennie Jacobs bringing to our attention one day that there were many other students in the nation who would willingly trade places with the students at the Girls’ High School. That bit of information was intended to make us appreciate at an early age that the opportunity that we had was not one to be wasted or taken lightly.

In today’s world, it is wonderful to see the educational system evolve to be more inclusive and the opportunity of a high school education for all of the nation’s citizens become a reality. Education for all has come a long way and it augurs well for the future of the country. The Girls’ High School is certainly doing its part when it comes to projecting that which is admirable in the society. May this continue. Per Ardua Ad Alta, GHS.
