Message to all workers

Fri Apr 26, 2013

Editor: When things need to be done, we usually stick together, we being workers and it’s usual work for us. Together we fought for safer work places, decent wages, union rights, democratic societies, equality, and the environment and more. We still fight every day, unfortunately it’s still necessary. Advantages once gained can be easily eroded or even lost.{{more}}

What keeps us going are our faith, trust, hope, dream, and vision and knowing that we only can make our dream come through by believing that each of us has the power and ability to rise above our personal differences and unite for one common interest and cause.

Now something new needs to be done we need to stick together in this task. It can only happen when people understand that we are all workers, fisher folk, farmers, house helpers, doctors, lawyers teachers, sanitation workers, civil servants, vendors, cart pushers, taxi drivers etal. Whatever affects one set of workers will have an effect on another set of workers. A chain is as strong as its weakest link.

As another Workers’ Day approaches, let us not just look at it as just another holiday for relaxation, frolic and fun, but to remember the struggle and progress that was made and come together to ensure that all workers whether organized or unorganized understand their basic rights as workers. For it is in understanding their rights and standing up for it, that we ensure that good governance, equal rights and justice shall prevail and that we have a tranquil and safe society.

Happy Labour Day to one and all.

So Long – man on the go.
