A biblical response to homosexuality, same sex marriage – Part 2

Editor: To fully understand the relationship that God ordained between a man and a woman, one must begin at the very beginning of the Bible. In Genesis 1:1, the book of beginnings, the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”{{more}}

Immediately we are told that God is the Creator. In the first chapter we also read that He created all life. A rational explanation of the origin of man can only be found in the Bible. Genesis 1: 26-27 reads, “And God said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness….” So God created man in His own image. In the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.”

Man was created in God’s image, not Satan’s. Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” God formed man of the dust of the ground, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living soul. A form made with dust would remain lifeless were it not for the breath of life.

Many agnostics and skeptics discount the truth of creation by saying, “That is Old Testament doctrine” as if being in the Old Testament renders the teaching null and void. Yet Mark 10:6 says “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.” Jesus said in answer to the Pharisees in Matthew 19: 4, ” … have ye not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female.” These New Testament teachings reinforce and solidify Old Testament truths.

God in His wisdom, saw it was not good that man should be alone, therefore he made an help meet for him. Genesis 2: 21- 24 reads, “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.”Taking a rib from Adam, God used it to make a woman. God instituted marriage by giving the woman to Adam for his wife, and they became one flesh. God preformed the first act of legally uniting a couple in marriages; a man and a woman becoming husband and wife. Not a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. The only marriages ordained by God are those uniting a man and a woman.

God put Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, to live upon earth as man and wife in the garden of Eden. God’s way is for man and woman to marry and if it be His will, to have children. In the Garden of Eden, God forbade Adam and Eve to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eve succumbed to the temptation of the serpent to eat the forbidden fruit, and she gave of the fruit to Adam, and he ate. Through Adam sin entered into the world, and sin always has consequences. Genesis 3:16 says “Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”God has never changed this command! 1Corinthians 11:3 reads” But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”1corinthians 11: 8-9 say, “For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.”

The armed forces of any nation have a chain of command, and strict adherence to that chain keeps the system operating as it should. God has a chain of command for His creation, and obedience to it reflects His likeness in us. Christ is the head of the man, man is the head of the woman, and the head of Christ is God. Regardless of the rebellion against God’s chain of command, it is only the adherence of it that keeps marriages together.

The definitions of “marriage” and “marry” as given in the 1949 edition of The Winston Dictionary are as follows: marriage -the act of legally uniting a man and a woman in wedlock (locked in marriage) the wedding ceremony; marry – to enter matrimony; to perform the ceremony of uniting as husband and wife. I shudder to think how a dictionary printed in 2006, by those who reject the Bible, would define marriage.

People can lie and oppose the teachings of God’s Holy Word, but the word remains true Romans 3:4 says … let God be true, but every man a liar … and in proverbs 12: 22, Lying lips are abomination to the Lord … Revelation 21: 8, ” … all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone….” Reckoning day is coming for those who dare to pervert the Word of God and themselves.
