Let us not think about ourselves only

Editor: I often wonder if we are reflecting on the present state of our nation or if we are only interested in the state of ourselves. Most persons aspire to reach the top, but more often than not, getting there is only for self-gratification.{{more}} The desire ought to be the bringing about of improvements in the lives of others and the institution itself.

One thing that amazes me in this society is persons trying to hold on to positions when they have been a failure to the organization which they head. In my opinion, if you are placed in charge of something and you are not guiding it to success, you ought to step down. Some would rather the institution close down rather than stepping down, because it is all about them. In other societies, persons are quick to accept responsibility and offer their resignation. Some even commit suicide, which I do not support. This society must be success driven, which is measured against the goals of the organization.

Success has a habit of following success and the same principle applies to failure. There are times when someone puts every effort into succeeding, but they just cannot. It is because the energy that comes with that person is often overlooked. We often refer to it as luck, but it really has to do with the energy surrounding the individual. This energy emanates from within you, but we pay little attention to what is going on inside of us.

Individuals often look for the easiest way to get to the top. Some even enter into personal relationships with persons above them. This serves the interest of no one and it eventually comes back to haunt a society.

As a manager or head, simply look back and see what has been achieved under your tenure and determine whether you ought to

go or stay.
