Will the NDP serve the nation?

Editor: First, let me highly compliment “SEARCHLIGHT” newspaper for your wonderful coverage of the recent General Elections in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is of the very rich quality that always comes with your work -thank you!{{more}}

I was not surprised by the negative reaction of the New Democratic Party (NDP) to the results of the elections, since that is how sore losers behave. What has attracted my attention, however, is their bold promise to forcefully take on the Unity Labour Party administration in the new Parliament. After all, it was the NDP which over the last nine years that constantly neglected its constitutional responsibility as the elected Opposition, by boycotting Parliament whenever things got tough. I am now to expect that the mock parliaments at Democratic House will be a thing of the past. It is the duty of the NDP, now that the people have spoken, to attend all sessions of Parliament and provide the Vincentian public with services that our Constitution requires. We have been waiting for so long.

The entire nation will be well served if they do.
