PM should present Independence address by radio, television

12.NOV.10

EDITOR: It was sad to have read in your news media dated 5 November, 2010, of the numerous persons who fainted or otherwise took ill at the independence celebrations last week. No doubt this daunted the celebratory spirits for those persons.{{more}}

May I suggest, as is done in at least one, if not more, Caribbean countries, that the Prime Minister gives his Independence address via radio and television instead of doing so at the park. This should not in any way impede on the citizens and residents hearing the address as most if not all homes have at least one radio and or television. This will cut down on the time the parade participants have to spend at the park in an almost motionless position, thereby impacting them negatively on their blood circulation. It is no easy task standing in one position particularly in the heat of the sun.

I hope this suggestion can be considered for future parades.
