Ministry of Education or Women’s Affairs?

Fri, May 21, 2010

Editor: Has the Ministry of Education become the Ministry of Women’s Affairs? I am asking this question because all of the top positions are currently filled by women. For those who never took note I want to list some: The Hon. Minister, Permanent Secretary, Senior Assistant Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Chief Education Officer, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Local Registrar, Senior Education Officers responsible for Secondary Schools, Primary Schools and Research and Development… need I go on.{{more}}

I really believe that when women get into positions of authority that they become rough, crude, almost ruthless, in an attempt to protect their positions of authority. These women who you would think would have a heart have become heartless and cold especially to other women.

The Senior Assistant Secretary was recently elevated/relegated, as you may choose to term it, to a position of Glorified Parking Lot Attendant. What is the mission of this vital ministry in this blessed land of ours? I don’t have the time to go back there and read it, but I think it has to do with the overall development of education in this fair land. I, however, get the impression that it is a crab in a barrel mentality in that Ministry as it relates to these top positions held by these women, so much so that they themselves do not realize that what they are doing is just simply wrong, to say the least.

I venture to say here that we need a few strong men to dwell in the midst of all these position-seeking women, then we may just strike a balance in this controversial hotbed of a Ministry and it may just regain its footing because I hasten to say that it is on shaky ground.
