Don’t wait until it’s too late!

16.APR.10

Editor: I read with great interest the article by Sir Ronald Sanders, ‘What Will Save Our Caribbean Rum’. Also, Renwick Rose’s ‘Another Dagger in the Back’. What are our islands’ governments going to do?{{more}} Are they going to wait until, once again, it is too late? Are we going to lose this vital foreign exchange earner? Also the jobs that will be lost throughout the islands?

Over the past years in St. Vincent, since the 1950s, we have lost Sea Island cotton (the best in the world), arrowroot, sugar, and bananas (Green Gold). Will we allow rum to suffer the same fate, or will we follow the lead of the Dominican Republic? One effort alone is not enough. Please let us act at once.
