Misconception about biblical teachings

19.MAR.10

Editor: Before I get into what I have to say, let me remind the authorities that the Glen road right up to the Lewis Punnett home is in a horrible state. The holes are wide and deep. It is a pain driving on that road. So please do something before it is too late.{{more}}

Ladies and gentlemen, it is being taught that as Christians we can live a sinless perfection, a life that is perfect. This according to the scriptures is far from the truth. In 1 John 1:8 – 10 we are told that if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us, but if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It further states that if we say we have not sinned we make him a liar and the truth is not in us. These verses and many more thus tell us that we are sinners and thus will sin. So to say that we can live perfect is a misconception and can be misleading.

Everyone is born a sinner. The only perfect person was Christ because he did not have a sinful nature like us. He was not born, he was conceived. Space does not allow me to develop this truth, but suffice it to say that you read for yourselves and know that no one can claim to be perfect. Therefore, to say that we can be perfect will be making Christ a liar and His truth will not be in us.

Lastly, we can never claim to be equal with Christ. So to hear that Christ is our elder brother is indeed not scriptural and something to oppose. How can anyone claim that Christ is their brother? He is our father. He is our saviour. He is not on the same level like us. To make Him our brother is to be equal with Him, and no one can be. I am yet to find a scripture that supports Christ as our elder brother.

Ladies and gentlemen, as we are heading towards the end of the church age, there will be deceivers. Be careful! I am of the opinion that those who teach these aforementioned doctrines are cultic and so we must be careful. Let us read and study the bible and most of all get down on our knees and cry for mercy and turn to Him. For only He alone can save and deliver.

Thank you.
